8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8(NKJV)

When you look at Daniel’s life, you see the quality of a man whom God will use to transform governments and kingdoms.

Daniel דניאל “Judge of God” or “God is my judge.” This could also be understood to mean, “God is my leader.”

It is one thing to understand that God judges you but it is all together different to understand that God is leading, directing, and ordering your steps!

Who is leading you?

In these first four chapters of the book of Daniel, king Nebuchadnezzar has two dreams or visions.  The first dream is found in Daniel chapter 2.

2 Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him. 2 Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. Daniel 2:1-2 (NKJV)

Nebuchadnezzar wanted the real not the fake.

God is maturing the prophetic and separating the genuine from the counterfeit.  We are in a similar period of history where there are many competing voices to tell us the “Word of the Lord,” but many are just imitations, cheap counterfeit interpretations that are made up in the mind and not emanating from the throne room of God.

This dream was a prophetic message from the Lord concerning Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom and successive kingdoms for generations to come.  God was giving great insight   and revelation to Nebuchadnezzar showing his love and mercy.
